May 1, 2023, Pikes Peak, Colorado, United States: Motor racing and sports car firm Alpine are determined to hit the heights with their latest creation - an aero-optimised version of their A110 car, which has been ''designed to break recordsâ? on the famous Pikes Peak Hillclimb..The new vehicle most extreme iteration of the Alpine A110 to date, and has been specially designed to cope with the fluctuations and demands presented by the 19.93km Colorado hillclimb, commonly known as the Race to the Clouds. .Developed by Alpine in collaboration with French racing team Signatech, the new iteration features a pronounced front splitter, double rear wing and shark fin that cuts through the rear window - to generate additional downforce in each of Pikes Peak's 156 corners..The radical work done on the Alpine A110R also appears via the side skirts and diffuser of this one-off model, while an inlet appears on the roof to force air into the engine, resulting in nearly 500 horsepower. Specific work has also been done to reduce the car's weight to only 950 kilograms..This unique Alpine will soon embark on its assault on the American peaks with the aim of breaking records. After its debut runs at Lurcy-Lévis on 25 and 26 April, the model will welcome its designated Pikes Peak driver, Raphaël Astier, who will get behind test the car in its final configuration for the first time next week..Astier will conduct a first session in the Drôme, then at the French Alpine resort of Val Thorens.
